What is a student to do?

what is a student to do

Alright world, I have a problem and need some opinions from all of you who can offer some advice for someone in my position.  I have a decision that needs made and I am scared to make the wrong decision! Firstly, all of you know I am on the road to being certified in personal training and currently have my AS in exercise science. Just in case no one knows, I do not need a degree in order to be a personal trainer but I wanted a degree. Now I have hit a crossroad in my life where I need to choose: Go back to school for my BA in exercise science OR focus my attention on getting my personal training cert and getting a job in my field (not interning, which I am doing now).  I know this seems like an obvious answer; do BOTH! but for me, that would be too overwhelming and I am not trying to lose my mind and lose interest by over-doing everything.  I have thought about this and it seems so crazy to me that I cannot make a final decision but I need to make the decision before the 17th because I was accepted at the college already.  Both journeys make sense and both have their pros and cons, what I have come up with is no matter what I need certified in personal training in order to have the proper title.. which makes sense and I know personal trainers who do not have their bachelors and are doing really well for themselves.  I know personal trainers who have no degree and are doing well, with multiple certs. I just don’t know what makes sense for me to do, and how I should go about this decision.  People have told me, I can always go back to school later if I decide I need to down the road and this is very true.  Nonetheless, if you are a personal trainer, I want your opinion and honest opinion about it. I don’t mind hearing from other people in my field of exercise science, etc..

I realize no matter what, it will be up to me to make the final decision.. as to what I want to do and focus on, but I want other people’s opinions because I am on the verge of losing my mind and it sucks!

Anorexia (Eating Disorder) Page 1

anorexia

I am no pro when it comes to eating disorders, I have never experienced such eating disorders and so hopefully those who have or are currently going through this will share their experience, stories, and maybe give some helpful words of encouragement so that others do not go down the same road and/or can have a light at the end of the tunnel. I know eating disorders are serious, they are common within society and many people do not realize how dangerous they can be (life threatening), dealing with any disorder can be hell (to say the least), it can be exhausting, an obsession, mentally and physically ruin someone, and it can be scary all in one.  Many eating disorders start at a young age, and although we hear of women having eating disorders, men can have them as well. This is a topic they may hit close to home with some of you, and I hope that everything I share in this post about anorexia can make more people aware of the seriousness and how deadly this eating disorder can be. I realize most people probably know what this eating disorder in-tails but sometimes it is good to talk about things like this, especially when it happens more often than none and many times someone’s life is taken because of it. For beginners, I will go over what “anorexia” means and then we will dive into the details.

Anorexia-  psychological and life threatening eating disorder defined by extremely low body weight, extreme weight loss, illogical fear of weight gain, and distorted perception of self-image and body.

Symptoms

  • Inadequate food intake leading to weight loss
  • Intense fear of weight gain, obsession with weight, and persistent behavior to prevent weight gain
  • Self esteem overly related to body image
  • Inability to appreciate the severity of the situation
  • Obsession of calories and fat contents of food
  • Engaging in ritualistic eating patterns (i.e cutting food into tiny little pieces)
  • Continued fixation with food
  • Amenorrhea: abnormal absence of menstruation
  • Depression and/or lethargic
  • Development of lanugo: soft fine hair that grows on face and body
  • reported sensation of feeling “cold”
  • loss or thinning of the hair

  • discoloration of the fingers
  • Fatigue
  • Insomnia
  • abnormal blood counts

  • denial of hunger
  • refusal to eat
  • irritable
  • reduced interest in sex
  • thoughts of suicide
  • lack of emotion
  • lying about how much food has been eaten
  • excessive exercise regimen

Health consequences:

  • Reduction of bone density
  • muscle loss and weakness
  • dry hair and skin
  • hair loss
  • severe dehydration
  • abnormally slow heart rate and low blood pressure
  • death

The causes seem to be unknown but there is speculation of what may be the cause of it.

More information:

  • More common in females, but males can have this disorder
  • more common among young teens
  • genetics can play a part in someone being susceptible to anorexia
  • Family history- you are more susceptible to it if someone in your family has had it before you
  • weight changes can trigger it
  • sports, work and activities can be a cause for it
  • Media and society
  • has one of the highest death rates of any mental health conditions
  • between 5-20 percent of those struggling with anorexia will die.

Treatment:

  • Hospitalization
  • medical care- to watch vital signs, etc
  • getting back to healthy weight
  • Psychotherapy

With this all being said, it is a very serious disorder and if you know someone who currently is going through this and/or you are someone who is currently going through this, just know we understand it is hard, that it seems impossible most days and that you don’t enjoy it, you will get through this, you will stay strong and you will be the help and change that needs to happen in order for you to be as healthy as you need to be, allow your family and friends to be your support system and your biggest fans as they try to help you through it, if you are alone and have no support system, know that I am here if you need someone to count on, if you need someone to talk with or someone to cheer you on when you reach the finish line. For all those who have conquered this eating disorder, congrats! I hope you will share with others your triumph and help others with their battles if you can.  Thanks for reading.

Home sweet home!

Pittsburgh

Hello everyone,

I appreciate the fact all of you were patient with waiting for me to come back home before I start blogging again. I know it seemed like forever since I had last blogged a post, but the time away was well worth it. I got to spend time with a “someone special” and officially changed my Facebook post to “In a relationship” for the first time (I have had previous relationships but never changed my martial status on social media, so this one must be someone special).  Nonetheless, it was a fun time, figured I would give ya’ll the inside scoop on how my 3 days went.  Firstly, I traveled to Pittsburgh (that is where my significant other resides, 4 hours away from me) and it was my first time being in Pennsylvania, and it was exciting, yet very nerving because it was a HUGE city compared to my small town in Ohio.  When I arrived ( I arrived like 30-40 minutes late) because I thought I was a map and could navigate without the help of my GPS and got all screwed on the roads but eventually found my way back (with the help of my car GPS). Thank goodness the highway wasn’t busy with traffic, it helped keep my road rage at bay! LOL.   I arrived like 8pm at night, because of work, I had to leave Ohio late in the afternoon, ugh. but when I arrived at my spouse’s place of residence it was so weird, because I had to park on a hill, literally a steep ass hill (excuse my cursing) but it was ridiculous (Colorado had hills but not this nonsense), of course because I am a goober, I have my partner come out to help me with parking because I am thinking with my luck, my car will roll downhill. Luckily for me, my partner is amazing and shown me the ropes, what can I say, I got lucky with this one! skipping on to the main part of the weekend….. ——>

We spent Sunday night at the Prince Tribute festival, and it was amazing (I haven’t downloaded the pictures from my phone onto the computer yet, so won’t be able to share photos, I know, I suck) but I will have them on my social media pages tomorrow or sometime later in the week! I was half tempted to hop on someone’s yaht but my partner told me to not be a weirdo, because knowing me, I wanted to experience the party the yaht people were having and would have hopped on! LOL (I didn’t hop on) but we took a walk and talked about life and how much of a weird one I am and how funny I am.. and omg.. all about me! LOL kidding, we talked about us.. and because I am a loser, I asked them to be my lover (officially) in a high school boy ask girl kinda way! hahaha my partner said YES! woot. okay, so we have officially been dating for like almost 3 days now. . we have come a long way. We watched the fireworks (cliche) I know, but couldn’t help but hold each other in the moon light while taking pictures (mostly me begging for more selfies of us together because we looked so cute) just my opinion. After the festival we went to dinner at this Pittsburgh classic sandwich place (Primati Bros.) and they were so DELICIOUS! a must try if you ever visit! and we then went back to their place and the rest is history (wink wink)

Monday was another fun day, but I will leave that one for the books, I am home now and back at blogging, just wanted to give everyone a taste of my time away! I will start back up with the blogging tomorrow at some point, so be on the lookout. If any of you, want took some time away, share with me! would love to hear about it! otherwise, it is very late, so sweet dreams readers!

P.S yes, you may judge me! LOL & the picture up top is Pittsburgh 🙂

What is your “go-to” breakfast?

breakfast

Well today I am going to have a short, fun question for all of you to answer.   I want to know what is your go-to breakfast food(s), whether it be you cook a big breakfast or a small one.  It doesn’t have to be one meal, it can be your top 3 breakfast meal, whatever you like. I figured I would make this Friday an unique experience, and get people talking, not to mention give me more ideas for my mornings! for those of you who do not eat breakfast (whether you sleep in, don’t like breakfast food or don’t have an appetite at that time) share with me why you are NOT a breakfast person.

My go to breakfast consist of eggs and turkey bacon. Depending on the morning and how hungry I am, I will add toast or make me some fluffy pancakes on the side. I try to aim to eat breakfast every morning, especially if I have class that morning or work in the morning.  I was always told breakfast was the most important meal, and I believe that because it is the start of our day.  Can’t wait to hear all of yours.

P.S I don’t want people to share their lunch and dinner ideas on this post because I will make a separate post for those, just a fyi.

P.S.S I will not be blogging Saturday- possibly Tuesday. I may blog on Tuesday depending on when I get home, I will be out of the state and will be spending time with someone, so I am again making my time with them my main focus. I hope that all of you have a wonderful weekend and I will catch up with you later in the week! I will try to remember to take pictures and share them with you all.

I will eventually get to all of you- to my fellow bloggers & Followers

Hey friends, bloggers, followers! I wanted to make a short post letting all of you know I am very thankful for all of you who continue to support, read and follow my blog pages as well as my social media. I am a mess sometimes and forget who liked what, who commented and omg I was nominated 2 weeks ago.. shit I forgot.. I swear I don’t ignore anyone and for all of you who I haven’t liked enough or commented enough, I have not forgotten about you, I am usually on my laptop 4 hours a day blogging, commenting, liking, social media, and I tell you what? I always feel like I have tons more to do. I blog on 3 other sites (one being more important for the fact that I have to tell them when I am going to be gone and can’t blog, can you believe this) LOL., so I try to make sure I make my rounds and take time to talk with the majority of you but I am not perfect and sometimes your post, your comment, your like, your emails go unseen for a couple of days, but I ALWAYS get back to them as soon as I can. I appreciate all of you and adore all of your blogs for different reasons. I love to blog about fitness and health but I love, absolutely love learning about each and every one of you through your writing! I will be honest, in saying I have read each of my bloggers post and about me sections.. I don’t go about my day liking stuff I don’t read.. but I do not always comment.. shh.

Nothing is changing, I just wanted to make sure all of you knew how much it means to me that you take the time to get to know me, read my post and convince me that I am a good blogger. I know, I know.. none of you want me to have a social life.. outside of blogging! LOL I wish I could just pitch a tent on WordPress world, but I have other aspects of life to live, even it if evolves me not doing anything but laying in bed! haha  I will always try to keep everyone updated for days I am not able to blog because of events, work, school, traveling, health, etc.  All in all this is my thank you post to all of you and my congrats to those who have inspired others, been nominated for various reasons and continue to be strong writers, keep at it!

P.S I have been considering blogging for more sites but this isn’t definite yet. I will continue to use WordPress whether I blog for another or not and will continue to use the other 3 as well. Also to keep all of you updated, since blogging for the company who has asked me to blog for them (the job opportunity) , I have made some good progress and won an award and money haha. which is cool! They are still under construction, so things have been moving along slowly but surely ..and I am still very happy about this opportunity I was granted. I am not sure what my future holds, but so far I am happy with where I am with blogging on all of my sites! I am hoping to create my own website in the near future and school will be starting soon this month, so I will be hella busy always… (which is why I haven’t taken on more blogging sites yet) and why my youtube videos have not been consistent.  I will try to stay on the same blogging schedule I am on, but it will depend on my classes, when I am out of town and my sleep to work ratio. I will keep all of you updated as time goes on if any changes arise. Thank you for reading!!
