What is your New Year’s Agenda?

New Year'S Day, Fireworks

Hey everybody, I know it isn’t quite 2017 yet or even New Years, but I wanted to get a head start in case I am having too much tomorrow celebrating and don’t have time to blog about it and wake up with a hangover on Sunday morning before work – not saying this will happen. I would never admit to this kind of fun! lol Don’t want to be a bad role model for all you good little noodles out there (but this could possibly happen) just a word of caution.

I want to keep this particular post short and sweet. Two questions I have for you to answer:

  1. What are you doing for New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day?
  2. Do you have a New Year’s resolution? (Feel free to let me know what it is in the comment section)

Now, these two questions are easy to answer, but I want you to think long and hard about the 2nd question, because if you do have a New Year’s resolution, think about if you made it for a prior year and didn’t fullfil it, why didn’t you fullfil it? Think about why this is something you want to happen or do, think about whether or not it would be a long term goal or short term, think about the plan (how will you achieve this goal, what sacrifices will you need to make, and is it realistic). Most importantly, just think about how you will respond if you don’t conquer the goal you set (but don’t linger on it)

Why I don’t make New Year’s Resolutions.

  • I am constantly making goals for myself throughout the year (New Year’s isn’t significant to me)
  • Half the time I forget about them within the next 3 months.
  • Most of the goals I set, I don’t set them for a day and time, I just start them now, why wait a new year to do something
  • It becomes much more of a fad to people – set one and say you have one and forget about it half way through the year and then start over again next year… just a cycle that I don’t want to get caught up in
  • A New Year doesn’t always translate to a “new me”, yes I am growing and learning and continuously working toward bettering myself but it doesn’t take a New Year for this transformation to happen. Some things take longer than others, but just because it is 2017 doesn’t mean “OH NOW I CAN BE THIS PERSON” lol the old 2016 me is in the trash.. no.. I don’t look at it in this way.
  • by this time next year, everyone will be on this kick “omg, I am so over 2017, bring on 2018” lmao – It never ceases to amaze
  • I just have learned that if I want something, I don’t need to wait for it to happen, I need to make it happen – I don’t need to wait another year to make something happen, If I want it, I go for it no matter what year we are in.

Some people may call me boring or a “debbie downer”, but I haven’t made a New Year’s Resolution in like year or two and honestly, sometimes I come up with mental thoughts of one, but then I am like.let me just write down goals and make shit happen. It works for me. The only “New Year’s Resolution” I have , if this even counts.. is to make my blog even better, to take it up a notch and really hit the ground running – I have so much in store for you guys. 2016 has taught me more about blogging and writing and making sure I appeal to my audience and I want to continue honoring that by giving you ALL I GOT. I hope that all of you have enjoyed my writing as much as I have enjoyed sharing with all of you during the 2015-2016 year, if you thought you loved it, 2017, you will LOVE it!!! (hopefully, no promises).

Thank you everyone for all the amazing reads, the support, the positive feedback, the debates, the continued learning experience and the personalities you all have that have made me feel at home and at ease. I look forward to seeing many, if not all of you in 2017.  I am still accepting ideas as far as to what you would like to see on my blog (topics, theme ideas, videos, how often you want me to write, etc) I am also accepting ideas for my YouTube channel (topics, videos, editing, etc) whatever you have in mind, feel free to share with me and I will be sure to write it down and think over it when I am making final decisions.  I hope to have everything announced by the end of first week of January if possible, if not, the next week after that – depending on the schedule and how close I am in coming to a decision. Some things may remain the same, and some may change so be aware of that as well.

Hope all of you have a wonderful New Year’s Eve & New Year’s. Be Safe and have fun!

You can assume I have a love for fitness & a love for Wonderwoman -- both assumptions are correct. I am an ACSM certified personal trainer of 8+ years -- I currently reside in Ohio and live a simplistic life at the age of 29. If I am not lifting, I am eating, sleeping, traveling, exploring, or movie watching. I recently moved during a pandemic, now I am focused on self care (self love), building a business of my own in personal training, becoming a professional blogger, starting a podcast and doing things that make me happy! I am a sister, daughter, and loyal friend --- I love everyone's dog and I am on a mission to pet as many dogs as possible everywhere I go! LOL. My mission is to talk health (physical/mental), design programming, motivational speak, learn, grow, prosper, build others and make as many people smile as possible because I want nothing more than to be the change I seek in the world.

  1. Great post! Me, I have no idea what I’m doing for New Year. I also stopped making resolutions cause they are hard to keep up. Perhaps, in month three, I might make one. I think. 😏 If I don’t talk to you before then, I hope you a wonderful New Year! 😘🎉🎉🎉

    1. Thank you!
Did you do anything for the New Year? did you bring it in with celebration or just a laid back evening? Hopefully either way you were able to spend it with loved ones & were safe. 😀

    3. Yes, I did. I hardly ever get out. It is very rare anymore, which is shocking since I am still young enough to do so, but because of my social anxiety, I have allowed it to hinder me a bit, but I decided I want to end the year on a good note.

  2. Hopefully, I will get in a workout early in the morning and then we are spending two days getting a kids classroom ready with decorations and sets.
I don’t do resolutions. Like you, but I think I started it before you so technically you stole it from me, I just set smaller reasonable goals.
Fitness-wise, I want to keep decreasing my weight to at least 195 and increasing my overall sexiness by 13% before my triathlon in July.
Less fitness related, I want to skydive for the first time on my birthday in May.
Even less fitness related, the team I lead to present emotional first aid for youth will be doing at least two more workshops.

    1. Did you get your workout in? Slacker. lol
How did the decorations for the kids classrooms go, well I hope you did a good job of decorating and making everything look pretty and orderly.

Yes, I want to decrease my weight too, but the whole sexiness part, I didn’t give thought to, so thank you, I think I want to increase mine by at least 30 percent. – also you copied me, just an FYI , lol.
Skydiving? wow! that would be a tremendous adventure for sure, you have some time yet before preparing for that. Are you not afraid of heights?
      Congrats on your youth workshops!

  3. I’m spending my New Years with my friends and family and I don’t really have a New Years resolution either cos I kind of find them useless because I don’t tend to stick with them

  4. I dont do new resolutions but i goal set all year round and start immediately with my goals. These days i tend have a rough idea for the quarter and monthly plan. I do have a rough view for the year ..but it is rough because things change

    1. Another person who doesn’t do New Year’s resolutions, so happy to hear I am not the only one. Yes, goal setting all year round is what I do too! Although I am not as organized as you are with having an idea for the month and year – but I plan on getting better at that. That is one thing that can hinder a goal sometimes, change. Surely my goals change almost weekly and other times monthly.. it is crazy but I love the thrill on accomplishing them. I need to work on starting them “immediately”, like yourself.
      Also, Happy New Years!

Happy New Years!!!! Hope your’s is full of love and laughter! thank you for stopping by. I am finding out that more and more people agree they don’t stick with their New Year’s resolutions, so they don’t make them.

    1. Christian,
Happy New Year. This is going to be a semi long comment/reply back to you,

First of all, I wanted to say thank you, thank you for the positive, the feedback , the boost of confidence, the help, the guidance, the motivation, and the care you have shown towards me (not only as a blogger) but as a person without even knowing me. I am somewhat tearing up as I type this because it seems like I am talking to a friend that I have known forever and someone who has been a partner in crime – weird how networking can hit so close to home and make you feel like you have known someone.
Secondly, you have been the backbone when I felt that I was giving up, the friend when I felt alone, the follower when I had no one else to like my post, the reader when I thought no one read, the inspiration when I needed a role model and the person who taught me so much – that didn’t only help me with blogging, it helped me with YouTube, it helped me with Instagram and Twitter and it helped me with my personal life off screen as well – unbeknownst to you.
For awhile I was slipping away, not understanding what I wanted out of all of this, not understanding how I don’t have to compete against others in order to get ahead, not understanding that I don’t need to be like anyone else who is doing everything right, I just needed to find what worked for me and fly. In the beginning of my blog career, I didn’t imagine being this serious about it, since then, I have put in many long hours creating content (not knowing who would care of it anyone would), it has been tough to manage all of my social media in a serious manner until I had your help. I know I seemed to have fallen off the wagon for awhile , and I knew you could tell I know longer had the care, the drive the focus I once had.. this was all very obvious I am sure. Thinking about it all right now, I realized, I do know what I want and I do know what I have to do, and it might take me longer to be successful and it might take me longer to gain followers, to create content, to become “popular” on YouTube BUT it doesn’t mean I won’t, doesn’t mean I should give up, doesn’t mean I am not worth it; just means I need to go my own pace and do what I am capable of instead of doing what everyone else is capable of, instead of following someone else, I need to be my own leader and do my own thing and make things work for me because not everyone will have the same way of doing things.

2017 isn’t the year for a new me, or a new life necessarily, for me it is the year I rise to the occasion and I do what I want at my own speed instead of racing against others. 2017 is the year I seek out more information, more help, more guidance but don’t allow it to make me feel inferior, 2017 is the year I will continue to grow and continue to love myself and all my flaws that come with being who I am.

I don’t know , but I don’t think this year could have been the way it was with social media and wordpress without you. I am truly very thankful for you and grateful for you. Everything you have done knowingly and unknowingly has at some point made a mark in my life. If I never get the chance to meet you and tell you this, I want to tell you now “A friend is more than a person, a friend is family”

    2. I appreciate this so much. Your words really hit home. You’re going to be the best you that you can be in 2017. We all will grow with time. True information comes when you seek it out and that’s what you’re willing to do. You’ve taught me a lot how to be yourself when you write. I’ve taken your lead on that and it’s been working. So we are here for each other. I am here for you. Much success in 2017 for you Miss Shay-Lon
