FitFam Tuesday,
Hello fellow bloggers, yesterday I had mentioned that I did not make it to the gym, I decided to catch up on some sleep, study and work on my social media projects in order to get somewhat ahead. I had warned all of you that last week and this week would be very busy weeks for me since I picked up many hours at work. I received my schedule for next month, and I will be back at my old schedule (yay!), ALSO, thank you to those that watched and commented on my video from yesterday. I appreciate the feedback and positive words. Today I did so happen to make it to the gym, and this would be the day for me to do squats for the challenge, but I am going to wait until my pmsing goes away because squatting is uncomfortable for me otherwise. Sorry. I did however do an upperbody workout and did very well today in my opinion.
The weirdest thing happened to me today at the gym, while working out, this man was watching me, he watched me for about 30 minutes straight and I am not sure why, maybe it was because he thought he knew me, maybe because I was doing an exercise that caught his attention or possibly because he had nothing better to do, not sure. Anyways, I found it to be weird , lol not to mention I could see him the whole time watching me as I am looking at the mirror and looking at him, to see if maybe it would throw him off, but nope he continued – just thought I would share that story. lol.
On the other hand, here is my workout I accomplished for today:
Workout Session:
- lat pulldown (narrow grip): 3 x 15, 55 lb Superset with Cable crossover: 3 x 15, 20lb
- Lat pulldown (narrow grip): 3 x 10, 70 lb Superset with Cable curls: 3 x 10, 25 lb
- Lat pulldown (narrow grip): 3 x 8, 85 lb Superset with Cable upright row: 3 x 8, 25 lb
- One hand cable row: 5 x 6 ea. 25 lb Superset with overhead press: 5 x 6, 50 lb
- one arm cable pull: 5 x 6 ea. 15 lb Superset with overhead press: 5 x 6, 50 lb
- One arm upright row: 5 x 6 ea. 15 lb Superset with straight bar bentover row: 5 x 6, 50 lb
- Triceps dips: 2 x 15
- Pushups: 2 x 6
Thanks for reading, feel free to give this workout a go, or share it among friends/family.
Your Fitness Blogger,
Shay-lon xxx

Maybe you had something stuck to your shoe?
That’s a pretty good workout, I guess. I mean it would be better if there were some pull ups…

Yes, I did not do my pull up challenge because of the fact it was taken over by the time I finished my workout. Sorry.
lol. But I am still hoping to increase mine my 2 like you said.

What?! I’ve been working my butt off to impress you! Now I’m going to slack off…

Hahaha!
That’s funny, I highly doubt you will slack off. How is spin class going btw?

It’s okay. Sometimes kind of boring. I’ve been going at different times with different instructors to keep it interesting. I would rather be on my bike racing down the road.
One thing that is kept me motivated is that our triathlon club came up with an Iron Man challenge for this month. The goal is to complete the Iron Man distances before the end of January.
LikeLiked by 1 person
That is a good idea, to come when different instructors are working, do you have a favorite instructor, make new friends in each class?
Iron man challenge, I feel like I have heard of this particular thing before someplace else, like it is a popular challenge but can’t remember what. Is your wife going to be apart of the challenge as well?

I’m not sure I have a favourite instructor but I appreciate the differences between them. Does that make sense?
You may have heard of an Iron Man race. Our idea as a club was to encourage members to complete the Iron Man distances within a month. Kind of a kick off the year challenge. Swim 3.8km, Bike 180km, Run 42.2km.
My wife was part of the challenge, thanks for asking. Unfortunately a couple weeks ago she tripped on the steps and took a tumble. So that took her out for about a week. Fortunately, nothing was broken and now she’s back at it again.

Yes, that makes perfect sense.
It is like a pre-game for the real thing, that is a good idea, and keeps people busy and moving, that is always good. How has your challenge been going so far? Also, I am happy she is back at it! that is wonderful news, and I hope both of you do very well in doing this challenge. Remember the only person you are up against is your previous self 🙂

I like goals. I’m almost done. Two or three sessions for each discipline and I’ll be done.
You asked if I make friends in spin class. Didn’t we have a conversation about the weirdos at the gym?
It’s good she’s made a comeback. She gets depressed when she can’t exercise.
I’m actually up against all the other club members who don’t go as fast as me. Ha ha.

I like goals too! love making goals, but have to slow them down because I tend to make too many and can’t keep up with them — not fun when that happens.
Hahahhahaha!!! it was one incident, lol. I figured everyone else at the gym was half decent, unless you run into the same weird man I did, then.. eh..
I get depressed when I don’t exercise either, not like severe but it bothers me.
Why do they not go as fast as you, by choice or fitness level?

Fitness levels. Our club has everyone from beginners to advanced, turtles to cheetahs.

Lmao, how about the occasional slug, because that is slower than the turtle and where I would fit in 🙂

I don’t believe that. Did you know that there are also duathlons? There’s no swimming. Run-Bike-Run. Many people like them.

No, never knew that. So it is only run-bike, that would be interesting. I may not be the best on the bike , or running but it would be cool indeed.

Run-bike-Run. You still do three sessions but just two disciplines.

Ahh okay! Ya, that would something I would be more interested in, I want to do an obstacle course (spartan race, tough mudder, etc) stuff like that and see what it would be like and challenge myself.

Omg! have you done this one yourself? it looks like a fun time. Is it for adults as well? I checked and they have multiple in Ohio! this is awesome! thank you so much for sharing this 🙂 never heard of this one before. Bookmarked the page.
Shay-lon
P.S you always have such good websites to share, hmm, are you part of the govt, lol jk

I’m definitely NOT part of the government.
I did it once last year. It was fun. It’s a very casual laid-back event that will even let you run it a couple times if you want. I did it later in the summer so it ended up being a very cold wet day kind of gross.
I would kind of like to do some of those extreme runs but I hear that it’s very easy to get injured and I’m not into that. A zombie run would be kind of fun though.

Wow! yes, and I might consider taking my youngest brother, that would be fun 🙂 just something that we could do together. Good idea.
What are the extreme runs?
I have heard of zombie runs, but not sure what they actually are to the fullest degree!

I would call tough mudder or spartan extreme events.
A zombie run, as I understand it, is basically a fun run where you try to finish the race without getting caught or you sign up as a zombie and attempt to catch runners. The one I have looked at gives runners flags – like flag football – that the zombie has to grab.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Oh really? I didn’t know they are considered extreme, and they have people who get injured a lot? hmm. I still want to do them but I want to be prepared for them. I signed up for the Spartan race site so they can send me stuff about the courses and training. – it has been helpful. I will really need to look over everything though. I should sign up for the tough mudder information too. Anyways,
The zombie run seems like fun, almost reminds me of “The Walking Dead”, lol

Hahahah omg! how did you know I live here. No, but I am looking into it. I have to work on getting proper days off and make sure I have no other plans that month either (family /friends) plus depending on when I get certified, and work.. etc so I will take it a day at a time and make sure I have my ducks in a row.

You have said several times you live in Ohio.
Shay-lon, don’t make excuses. Book the event and then plan around it.
If you tell everybody ahead of time they will accommodate you because they will think you’re so cool.
Step up.
Commit.
No fear.

Hey that part about you being so cool that’s not sarcastic. As soon as you tell people that you’ve signed up they will support you. And it is cool.

I just have one goal: Increase sexiness by 7%. Everything else is just a side effect.

Yes, I had that same goal at one point and realized mine only increases when I am at the gym, when I leave the gym, it no longer has any effects!
sad world we live in! lol

No, I have not. I have not looked into any classes yet, but it is on the list of things I want to try – so I will hopefully be able to check it off the list this year 🙂

Have you watched Unbreakable Kimmy Schimdt? They had an episode on Spirit Cycle (maybe Soul Cycle). It was pretty funny. I reflect on it often while at spin class.

It’s a Netflix show. I think it was new last year. Maybe 2015.

I didn’t remember seeing it on my netflix account but since I was not looking for it, perhaps I just wasn’t paying enough attention. I might decide to watch some netflix tonight, so if so, I will look for it.

Haha @braddahr. Yea that was a little creepy. Sometimes I talk to the person staring and ask can I help you? I noticed you’ve been staring at me. Its a little ballsy but that usually throws them off.
Um I know they’re your eyes but I’m also entitled to not feeling uncomfortable. I also agree that Pull ups could optimize your workout but at the end of the day it depends on you 🙂

Yes, I probably will end up doing it next time if the same person does this weird behavior. I thought maybe I have a hitman waiting for me! lmfao. Someone who wants to destroy me and take over my blog and I didn’t know about it. xD just a theory.
Yes, pull ups do optimize my workouts with upperbody exercises, Braddahr has me doing this challenge to increase my pull up reps, which is good but the machine was taken and I didn’t want to wait God knows how long. lol. — so skipped out but yeah 🙂 I agree.

“The machine was taken”? You should have said, “Excuse me, I’m Shay-lon.” The person would have gotten out of the way. (I really want to make a comment about you needing a machine but I keep saying to myself ‘no judgment, no shame, create safe places…’)

My gym only has one pull up station, I guess I should call it a station instead, lol. because while it is a machine you can do pull ups without the assistance if someone wanted to. Anywho, I might try that next time, the whole I am Shay-lon, and you will be responsible for any remarks I might get afterwards, lol.

You know, Latifat seems really cool. A genuine, quality person, who makes a difference in the world. I am basing my opinion on the fact that she laughed at my humour.

Bahahahhaha! wow! lol she could be trying to take over the world, but since she laughed at your humor, guess we can’t no longer assume that. If she does decide to take over mankind, this will be your fault, once again.
She has a good blog page and that is only because I have visited, but there may not be any proof of this. lol

Hit man?? 😒lol hopefully not. But yea i know how that is when the machine is in use. I was upset at the gym the other day when all the treadmills were taken up and I was relegated to a spot next to this girl that was hacking her lungs out. I refuse to get sick cuz someone wants to exercise. Anyhow I had to switch up my work out. It worked out in the end but I was like geeez. If you’re about to die, don’t go to the gym and spread your sickness.
