365 Days of Self Discovery: Day 63

Can you keep a secret?

  • Yes, I am good at keeping secrets. However, I do believe if the secret was life threatening, I couldn’t keep it knowing it could lead to immediate danger

Who would play you in the film about your life?

  • I think I would be the best cast member for this role, who knows me more than myself? Even the best of actresses would probably have a hard time imitating my character and personna because I don’t consider myself easy to imitate; or perhaps, I am?

A fun question, but honestly, who would you want to play “you” in a film about your life?

365 Days of Self Discovery: Day 61

Do you find it easy asking for “help”?

  • Growing up, I avoided asking for help; especially in school. Instead of raising my hand in class, I’d usually go home and and try to figure it out; or wait until a teacher or college professor would notice my struggle & reach out to help me. Many times my college professors or high school teachers would recommend that  I seek assistance after class or school with them or with a tutor, but I’d never be one to go. Asking for help just made me feel uncomfortable due to social anxiety and because I wanted to blend in/fit in with everyone else who understood the subject matter. Not to mention, I don’t particularly enjoy the spotlight having to raise my hand in class if I don’t understand something. The ONE time that I reached out for help on my own, was when I was failing math class or on the brink of failing a math class in college & I had to pass it, in order to graduate that same year, so I reached out to a family member who then helped me to pass  — but that literally was down to the wire before I asked. Now, I still don’t particularly like having to ask for help — and try to avoid doing so, but at the same time I know if necessary, I am fully capable of asking for help if I need it.

365 Days of Self Discovery: Day 60

Do you have problems releasing your creative side? Why do you think this is?

  • Yes, I do have issues with releasing my creative side, I have my moments, but I don’t think of myself as very creative. Some of the reasoning might be that I am more logical when it comes to thinking (so maybe I use that half of the brain more or it’s my stronger suit) and while I don’t think I am 100 percent logical, I think it is quite possible that my creative side lacks my attention. However, I am musically aware, have a decent imagination, and intuition (which is all the creative half my mind) — so with that being said, I have my moment of creativity, but unlike others, it takes me awhile to put things together and make sense of the art.

Success quickly became failure

To start things off, today’s deadlifts I thought were going to go my way, but ends up being I did worse off than I had imagined. I lifted a good lift at 290 & with 305 being my max, I figured lifting 295 afterwards wouldn’t be hard, but boy, I failed that lift 3 times. Not sure why I didn’t get the lift, but it only reached thigh level and the rest of the way, I was weak. I thought to myself, there is no way this is happening — almost like a smack in the face failing like this when your max was 305, and now you are questioning all your training protocols. Maybe it’s the extra cardio I have been doing now 4-5 days a week for about 20-25 minutes, or it could be I haven’t been eating the 5-6 smalls meals like I was or the lack of sleep I have been getting. Worse case scenario, it could be a sign I lost some form of strength — although heavy squats went over well today & that’s what had me most confused, but I will take it as a loss and start back up next week with a clean slate.
