A Little Lemon Can Go a Long Way

Let’s Talk Lemons.

My mom has been talking me into drinking my water with added lemon juice or a fresh lemon – but it hasn’t worked out well because I don’t particularly love the taste of lemon water. It isn’t that i don’t like lemons, but for some reason my taste buds don’t like lemon in my water  (but if forced to, I would drink it). Who else feels this same way?

I suppose it doesn’t matter what I like, because it doesn’t make it any less beneficial, as a matter of fact, a little lemon can go a long way in your drinking water.

  • Boost the immune system
  • good source of potassium (which helps with depression and anxiety for some)
  • Aids in digestion
  • said to help the skin as well (blemish free)
  • helps with weight loss – aids your metabolism
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Used as a detox method
  • regulate blood sugar
  • Relieves heartburn
  • Studies have said that it can relieve kidney stones
  • liver cleanser

Tell me, do you add lemon water to your daily nutrition?

Guest Post: 5 Pros & Cons To Juicing

Hey Fit Community,

I have another guest blogger, many of you probably already follow him but if you don’t, I hope this particular post will give you a reason to. I started speaking with Christian after about 4-5 months when I first started blogging, he was very social and shown a liking for me and my blog. I think what hit things off, is I was looking for someone to connect with in  the fitness community and while I ended up following others before him, he seemed to be the one that reached out the most to me at the time. We would continue to support each others blog content and talk about our goals within this community and after a long while, we developed a platonic relationship that soon led to us giving each other advice and pointers. I sometimes would blow off his advice and tips because I was not trying to blow up or become this instant famous blogger and YouTuber but after awhile I realized my potential and realized he was giving me a kick in the ass because he seen my potential too and wanted me to excel & I will forever be grateful for that because if he had not been the one to do it, I would have fell off this blog wagon and probably would have never created a YouTube channel nor knew how to access a following on social media. On some of my most overwhelming days, most stressful days, most agitating days, he made sure I was okay and made sure to tell me to not give up, to not walk away and to keep going and I just want to say Thank you Christian for that, thank you for being a great friend to me and thank you for seeing what I could not! It is my honor to have you as a guest blogger.

5 PROS AND CONS TO JUICING

by Christian Evans of ChristiansWeightSuccess.net

PRO’S:

1- GREAT WAY TO GET VITAMINS & NUTRIENTS TO YIUR BLOODSTREAM ASAP.

  • Instant Energy!!!

2- BE CREATIVE AS YOU WANT

  • when I first started juicing I followed a lot of recipes.  Eventually I learned what tasted good & not so good for me.  I let my creative juices (pun intended) flow and started developing my own. See how creative you can be.

3-  ITS A REAL PICK ME UP PROVIDES NEEDED ENERGY

  • It’s like an instant natural high.  Such a great feeling to have.

4- ITS AN ICEBREAKER/ CONVO STARTER

  • There will be lots of people that are skeptical on juicing.  This is a great convo starter that could lead to the exchanging of ideas.

5-  TEND TO MAKE HEALTHIER CHOICES OVERALL

  • When you’re intaking fresh juices daily you tend to make healthier choices overall in your life, as well as diet.  You’re granted with a clearer mindset the more you juice.

CONS:

  • THE CLEAN UP
  • Nothing worst than having to clean up your mess.  It’s draining.  There’s no shortcut.  You just have to face it and clean it up.  It’s all to prepare yourself for the next time you do have to juice.

2- NOT KNOWING “WHAT” TO JUICE

  • The thought of not knowing what fruits goes with what veggies is all trial an error.  When you make a bad combo is one of the worst things because it’s produce you paid for and you just have to drink it.  Try asking questions to other people that juice to get some tasty recipes.  Here’s some recipes for you.

  • Here’s all of my juicing recipes

Just thought I’d share this with you

3- DRINKING A JUICE EVEN IF ITS A NASTY ONE

  • Making a bad combo is something we all go through.  The thing is you csnt pitch it.  This is money you spent on produce.  Even though it may taste bad you never throw it out.  Just drink it.  Even though it’s nasty.  No juice left behind.

4- PEOPLE LOOKING AT YOUR MASON JAR/ BOTTLE SAYING “EWWWW WHATS THAT?”😒

  • The human mouth has more germs in it than a dog.  People will still kiss one another then sometime a dog without second guessing it.  People will have the nerve to look at your Mason jar (sometimes bottle) of juice and have that “Ewww” face.  It’s like why question this wonderful, nutritious serving of fresh juice yet you exchange saliva with someone else.  It’s mind baffling.  Some people will try to throw shade at your juice but let them taste a little then see how they react then.

5- IT HOOKS YOU

  • Once you get into a rhythm of drinking the juice, you begin to feel better.  Your mood changes for the better.   If you ever get off track and stop drinking for a few days (in my case a few hours) you start to notice it.  It’s really a natural high you’re constantly chasing.

There you have it.  5 pros and cons to juicing.  I love juicing.  It is part of my daily intake.  It is a way of life for me.  Please let me know how juicing has impacted your life.  If you’ve yet to start juicing and still have more questions, feel free to contact me.

Seated Barbell Press (YouTube Video of me)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5gEUAOc9Oo

Today was a lousy day at the seated barbell press, I did 4 x 10, for 35 lb. My standing press is a lot more and I normally am doing about 45 on a good day for my seated, but today was not going to happen – in the end it went fine though and I felt the shoulders being activated.

I achieved 1000+ followers!

Wow! What does one say?

Nothing says more to me, than to know that my blog has reached over 1000 people from different places and have challenged people to stay fit and healthy, get moving and be productive, make sure you are aware of the stigmas that follow certain mental health disorders, make sure we come together in unity so we can hopefully lessen the bodyshaming, and lessen the bullying and somehow build each other up because we need to, we need to find what brings us together and use it to better the world each day. I am so proud of all of you and so very thankful for all of you, because as you already know, I wouldn’t have made these achievements without your support, your engagement, your time, all of you have been an asset to my accomplishments and a HUGE factor for why I want to continue to write good content, publish good videos, challenge myself to new heights so that I am doing my part in making sure you get inspired, motivated and feel like you can come to me or come to my page and have some sort of fulfillment. Guest Blog Post – The Pros & Cons of following a workout plan found in bodybuilding magazines

I want to start by saying that this is only my second maybe third guest blogger and I came to him after getting to know him through YouTube and Instagram. I normally don’t go out of my way to ask people to guest blog for me very often because I am horrible at not being critical of others blogging on my page, but I had decided that he raised some good information that I had questions about.. and he agreed to participate as my guest blogger. I hope that all of you will appreciate this post as much as I have reading it and if you have any questions for him, I will have his YouTube channel URL at the bottom of the page and share his bio with you so you can get to know him as well. Enjoy.

Pros and Cons of Following a Workout Program found in Bodybuilding Magazines

Workouts!! Where do you go to find them? Which one would work for you? What kind of exercises should I do? What about reps and sets? Should I try bodybuilding, powerlifting, CrossFit or try calisthenics?  These are all good questions anyone starting in the fitness lifestyle asks themselves at one point of their journey. If you ask 100 people I can guarantee you, more than 85% would say they started their journey from reading a bodybuilding/fitness magazine routine. Let’s cut to the chase, are the workouts you find in bodybuilding publications reliable sources of information?

Originally, I was planning on writing why I DON’T follow bodybuilding magazine workout programs anymore but it occurred to me that there are a few good reasons to try them out. I’m going to list a few Pros and Cons and let you the educated reader determine for yourself if following workouts from your favorite professional bodybuilder/fitness athlete is worth your time. Let’s start with the Cons first and get the negativity out of the way.

Cons:

  1. Generalization- Majority of the Workouts will always be the same. Do a few compound lifts for 4 sets of 10 to 12 reps followed by a couple of different Isolation exercises for 4 sets of 12-15 reps. This is what is called a “cookie cutter” routine. This is NOT what the Pros do!!
  2. Your favorite Athlete- before I write about this I wanted to share a secret in the industry, are you ready for this? The chances that your favorite athlete is writing this workout article is FALSE!! Majority of articles “written” by your favorite athlete is in fact written by a “Ghost Writer”. A person that is articulate behind the keyboard that will use the above “cookie cutter” formula to have an article ready for publication. There are a few that actually do write the articles like Jerry Ward, Gregg Valentino, and Joe Pietro from Muscle Sport Magazine but for the most part it’s the pros image and likeness that the magazine is paying them to use.
  3. Workout Programs are designed to sell you something- When reading the articles do you notice the “pro athlete” is in fact showing you what supplements they are using, cough* cough* sponsored by? This is to get the reader thinking to themselves “Well if so and so is using this kind of supplement it must work”. This is also a part of the athletes deal with using their likeness in the magazine. It’s to get the reader to buy the said sponsored products. The article will also for the most part redirect the targeted audience to go to the athlete’s website and purchase the GUARANTEED to get you results program. Ladies and gentlemen the fitness industry is a multibillion dollar industry that preys on the naive and the gullible.
  4. These are just a few cons that I have written up for this article. Without sounding negative and disparaging just remember that we have ALL been taken advantage of at some time or another with the latest get big, get cut, new diet, guaranteed supplements that will help YOU achieve your goals. It’s OK, this is all a part of the journey so don’t get frustrated just learn from the experience. Let’s move on to the Pros.

Pros:

  1. Its a Great Guideline- While the Pros DO NOT follow the exact routine its a great base line for a beginner to start building their own physique. Learning the compound lifts then finishing it off the workout with isolation exercises will in fact get you to learn the basics of the exercise and the “feel” of the muscle contractions on the isolation sets.  As a beginner everyone gets what we in the advanced stage call “the newbie gains” This is where a person is new to working out is going to gain the most benefits of exercising. This could be from bulking up to even dieting. When your body is not used to exercise or physical exertion of any kind and is introduced to physical activity the body responds tremendously! Enjoy these times and learn your form, technique and the gains you are about to experience!!
  2. Image of a Pro- Even though your favorite pro is more than likely NOT writing the article, if the reader is believing they follow the workout themselves it’s almost a connection with that pro. It makes the reader think I can follow this routine too and look like so and so. I’ll never put down visualization as it’s a valuable technique to utilize so if believing your favorite athlete is doing the same sets and reps as you are by then all means believe it and use it to your advantage!
  3. Visualization of Exercises- As a beginner I didn’t know what a cable fly was from a pec deck but from bodybuilding magazines seeing the bodybuilders doing the exercises through pictures helped me tremendously. I was that shy guy that didn’t want to ask someone in the gym “Excuse me what’s a pec deck machine” and look stupid or laughed at. Not that it happens but I imagined that it would happen, again visualization is HUGE in working out!
  4. In closing, these are just a few pros and cons of workouts in bodybuilding/fitness publications but the choice is up to you on what to learn from them. I personally to this day knowing that the workouts are 85% bullshit STILL purchase bodybuilding magazines. Is it because I’m a fan of the sport or have been doing this lifestyle for 20 years? I’m not quite sure but I will continue to purchase my favorite magazines regardless. If you want to know two books that I will personally endorse and guarantee that you will gain a plethora of REAL knowledge I will tell you. Its Arnold Schwarzenegger “Encyclopedia of Bodybuilding” and Gregg Valentino’s “Essentials of Bodybuilding” Nothing but genuine information minus the fluff. Everything from dieting, workouts, supplementation, cardio to even posing. Any type of info you want will be in these two books. Hope you all enjoyed the article it was a pleasure to write.

Bio on Dave:

As far as expertise the only thing I had when I was younger was a PT license but Ive long let that expire lol. Ive got a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice and Graduated with a 3.93 average. I was on the Academic Deans list monthly  and graduated with High Honors from Westwood College. I won the first ever YouTube transformation contest sponsored by TauroFitness, which was named the 2015 Mr. TaurOlympia. I went from 242 lbs to 185 lbs in 20 weeks and I did it naturally meaning no steroids or pro hormones what so ever just diet, cardio and hard work lol. Originally I started lifting and got serious at 21 years old and I was only 119lbs soaking wet. I was a true ectomorph so gaining weight was actually hard for me.
