700 followers and counting!

Hello everyone,

I have finally reached my goal of 700 + followers, and I am very grateful and excited about it! I don’t know if any of you remember, but it has been some months, since making this goal, so it took me sometime, but I am very happy nonetheless. I want to say thank you to all those that continue to follow my blog, those have subscribed to my blog and those who have shown support on all my social media accounts as well! I love blogging and enjoy speaking with all of you, I know this number doesn’t seem so big for some, but for me, it seems so huge. Especially considering all the other fitness/health bloggers who write about some of the same things as I do, and it can be difficult because I like to stand out among others and show my flying colors. I definitely want to continue to impress all of you with my continued blogging and social media efforts, so please don’t leave, make this page home and know that I am YOUR NUMBER ONE FAN! whatever journey you are on, I am your number one fan, always cheering you on! Thank you!

Next goal: 800 followers

P.S invite your friends and family to read my blog post as well, I have had people from my social media accounts sharing my blog post with their followers, and I love it, I love knowing people all of over will get to read something positive and inspiring and motivating. Keep up the fantastic work bloggers!

Tips: exercising in cold environments.

FitFam Friday!

So I figured since we are still in the winter months (in most places) that I would give you guys some tips when it comes to exercising in the cold weather months. Now these tips are for those of you who intend to be outside when getting your sweat on. Personally, I have never been one to enjoy exercising outside when it is cold – mainly because I have bad blood circulation in my fingers and toes and because I don’t like winter months, so I hit up the gym instead. For those of you currently workout outside during the colder months or those who would like to give it try, I hope this list comes handy to you. Keep in mind that “cold injuries” could occur, so safety is a must.

  • Typically one should wear 3 layers of clothing pending the assessment of weather: inner layer, middle layer and outer layer.
  • Wear clothing that minimizes sweating
  • Avoid an outer layer of clothing unless it is rainy or very windy
  • Reduce clothing insulation as exercise intensity increases
  • For trainers: don’t impose a single clothing standard on an entire group of exercisers
  • Wear appropriate footwear to avoid slips and falls.

Medical conditions that could occur in cold environments:

  • Hypothermia: when heat loss exceeds heart production (factors: immersion, rain, wet clothing, low body fat, older age, and some health conditions)
  • Frostbite: Tissue temperatures fall lower than 0 degrees C / “contact” frostbite can occur from touching cold objects with bare skin that causes rapid heat loss.

Cold weather is not a barrier in performing physical activity, however it is very important to dress appropriately and know the signs/symptoms of cold injuries. Thank you for reading.

Please take a moment and let me know if you exercise in cold weather, have you ever had the above cold injuries, and how you minimize your chances of injury.  Also, feel free to mention what type of exercises you take part in your cold environment (this includes if you play any winter sports).

My Gym Workout – Jan. 4th

FitFam Wednesday,

Hello everyone, I am back with another post specifying my workout for this morning, today was a good workout, nothing complex and yet it got the job done. Some of you may be in “ahh” when reading the workout, because I didn’t do as many sets as I normally would or reps, but that is because I was focusing on other aspects of fitness, my muscular endurance today. I did some ab workouts toward the end and continued to practice my “pistol” squats.

I learned my lesson, to not skip a warm up, especially if I am doing anything leg day oriented, so I did a proper warm up today. I should really do my dynamic stretching again though to get me really warmed up and pumped, anyways..

Warm up:

  • Treadmill: 12 minutes, 2.0 incline, 3.8 speed

Workout Session:

  • Bench Jumps: 1 x 15-20 reps
  • Dumbbell squat to overhead press: 1 x 15-20 reps, 40lb
  • Bentover dumbbell skiers: 1 x 15-20 reps, 40lb
  • Rotational walking lunges: 1 x 15-20 reps, 20lb
  • Dumbbell chest press: 1 x 15-20 reps, 30lb
  • Dumbbell pullovers: 1 x 15-20 reps, 15lb
  • Roman chair sit ups: 1 x 15-20 reps
  • Straight leg bicycles:1 x 15-20 reps

That is all folks. If you are interested in seeing any of my other workouts, please click Here.

Feel free to leave your workouts in the comment section, share feedback and share the workouts on your social media with friends and family. Thank you for stopping by.

The Versatile BLOGGER award.

This is my first time receiving this award from anyone and I feel very good about it. I think it means many things, and it means I pretty much can do whatever .. I don’t just stick with whatever, but I adapt to change – this is something I had to learn to do over the years. I appreciate the fact that one of my favorite bloggers (I have others, don’t get jealous) Thehangryrunner nominated me. She has been wonderful to speak with and since giving her topic ideas, I have been keeping her hands busy with creating more post! Doing a great job, keep at it 🙂

The rules state:

  • Thank the person that nominated you and include a link to their blog.
  • Nominate at least 15 blogs of your choice.
  • Link your nominees and let them know of your nomination.  (OK this is what I’m bad at so I hope I got everyone)
  • Share 7 facts about yourself!

but I do thinks my way usually. lol

7 Fact About Me:

  1. My social life is very small, I used to have a huge circle of friends and what not, but since being very busy, kicking people out of my life and focusing on things that I didn’t have time to do because I was partying really hard and forgetting about priorities, I have since decided that I like it small and if it grows it grows because I allow people to come in that are worth my emotions, time and patience who support me and not hinder me.
  2. I don’t naturally like speaking with people over the phone, but  when I do, it has to be not weird, otherwise I tend to shrink up in a ball and mumble. Although I am getting better at handling this! lol – I don’t really shrink up, but I hate the awkward silences >.< talk people, talk!
  3. I just recently started doing meditation, it came to me when someone threw me the idea and I have been wanting to try it for a while. So far, so good.
  4. My friends and family think I am a HORRIBLE driver, but I disagree. One of my friends sent me a text saying “why do you drive like you are transporting high grade explosives” lol.
  5. I dance in my car. I typically will do it all the time, everyday and I don’t care who sees me doing it. – I am also known for singing in my car too!
  6. I very competitive, I have been an athlete all my life, so when it comes to board games, video games, sports, etc.. I always aim to win and I am a horrible loser.. If I lose, chances are you should leave the room. just a rule of thumb.
  7. I am not a true buckeye fan, but I pretend to be.. 🙂 – I always choose MI because I like their colors more! hahaha .. yes I am THAT person. sorry, not sorry.
